Nothing is worse than not knowing what the future...
Please allow me to be on my emo shit for one minute. Random reblogs & thoughts will be back soon. I just need to get this out. So if you follow me on the Twitter, I’m sure you’ve seen my many allusions to possibly being unemployed soon. Well, as each day passes, the possibility seems more like a reality. The writing’s on the wall (no Destiny’s Child), but no one is...

Day 18: A Janet Jackson song that you want played...
The obvious choice here would be “Together Again”. I’ll choose “Got Til It’s Gone”. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions why…

Socially awkward flirty coworkers...
Background---Female coworker comes by our cubicle area to discuss her nightly exploits w/ male coworker. They engage in the most awkward exchanges. Today I had enough & had to email the guy who sits across from me to see whether or not I was alone in being kinda skeeved when they talk.
Me: Is it just me or does it strike you as weird that she's bragging about no longer being a slut? Or have you tuned out this convo? LOL
Coworker: The tension is so weird. I think she may sorta kinda be hitting on will sometimes? Which is odd to me. They flirt in this weird way. ackkkk
Me: YES. It is so awkward and hard to listen to. I cringe everytime she approaches. Wow, that sounded mean...but only because I know the awkward flirting is coming.
Coworker: Exactly. Creep city...

eSAIL...
So I was on craigslist surfing the ETC/job listings (aka what I do when I’m bored) & I came across this opportunity to do paid book reviews. Of course I jumped on it & one of the prerequisites for becoming one of this company’s reviewers is to take this online assessment called the eSAIL. The eSAIL is a 43-item online questionnaire designed to assess adaptive style. The...

Day 16: The first Janet Jackson song you loved
30 Day Janet Jackson Song Challenge                         EASY. “Pleasure Principle”. I know I used this song on a previous challenge day, but it is in my top 5 Janet songs EVER. I friggin love it THAT much. Seeing the video made me want to BE Janet. I kept tryna get my mom to buy me knee pads so I could wear ‘em over my jeans like her. I used to dance in front of my...

Day 15: The Janet Jackson song you can relate to...
Surprisingly, this was the easiest day/song to choose. From the first time I heard this song, it resonated with me. As everyone knows, The Velvet Rope is Jan’s most personal album. She used the songs on the album to work through issues and exorcise demons that she has been carrying with her for far too long. I remember hearing the song I chose for today for the first time & bawling while...

Day 12: The Janet Jackson 30 Day Song Challenge
Day 12 – Your least favourite song from your favourite Janet Jackson album (Indicate the album) My favorite JJ album is Rhythm Nation 1814. <3 My least favorite song from that album is “State of the World”. While the message is timely, in line with the rest of the “political” statements made on that album, & full of truth, I just can’t with this song....

I write like... →
So there’s this website where you submit a writing sample & it tells you which famous writer you write like. After submitting three different samples, I allegedly write like Stephen King, Mark Twain and/or Chuck Palahniuk. Hmmm, wonder if James Baldwin, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Toni Morrison, Alice Walker, Jennifer Weiner or Nora Roberts are among those who people may write like???

All I've Ever Wanted...
Since I was a wee lass, all I’ve ever wanted was the work with books. I didn’t know in what capacity in those younger years, but I knew that my life needed to revolve around books in some way. Over the years I toyed with the idea of becoming a librarian, a teacher, a writer, an editor. Yes, an editor! This is the perfect position for me, I eventually decided. Afterall, I read every...

Day 08: The Janet Jackson 30 Day Song Challenge
Day 08 – A Janet Jackson song that makes you cry No Jan songs really make me full on boo hoo, but “Better Days” from All For You does tend to get me a little teary eyed. AFY was released at a time when my life was in hella emotional turmoil & this song made things a little better. Lyrics below. ================================================= I used to sit and wonder Would I...

Day 07: The Janet Jackson 30 Day Song Challenge
Day 07 – A Janet Jackson song that you know all the words to Ah geez, ummmmm…oh so many. I’d rather not list her whole discography though, so I’ll go with the first song that popped into my head, “Would You Mind”. Oh yes…I went there.

Day 06: The Janet Jackson 30 Day Song Challenge
Day 06 – A Janet Jackson song that reminds of you of somewhere The first song that popped into my head was “Escapade”, particularly the moment when she screams out “MINNEAPOLIS”. I cannot hear that city’s name without yelling it out ala Janet.

Day 05: The Janet Jackson 30 Day Song Challenge
Day 05 – A Janet Jackson song that you love to dance to When I saw this day of the challenge I immediately knew what song I would have for this one. My mother and I have an interesting relationship. It’s sort of a love/hate one in ways. One of my favorite memories of us however is a random Saturday morning when we lived in our house (pre-divorce). We were cleaning up the kitchen & I was...
